Sto Corp’s Experts Featured At Material Selection Conference

Sto Corp’s Strategic and National Accounts Manager for Coatings and Renovation, Chuck Duffin, and Sto Corp’s Technical Services Manager Tyson Lodge will be featured panelists at the one-day Material Selection Conference in Pittsburgh, PA on September 26th. The “Building Wall Coatings, Water Repellents and Liquid-Applied Air Barriers” conference is hosted by Durability + Design magazine.

Duffin’s colleague Ed Telson, Coatings Segment Manager for Sto Corp., will be joining him in the panel discussion on masonry wall coatings and water repellents. They will describe the performance of Sto Corp’s masonry coatings brands in several scenarios involving varying exposure environments, substrate conditions, and the availability of skilled craftsmen. In his 26 years of service at Sto Corp, Duffin has worked as a technical trainer, a technical sales specialist, and an architectural representative, in addition to his current position in Strategic Accounts.

Technical representatives from five other suppliers, will also describe their brands’ performance as part of the masonry wall coating and water repellent panel moderated by Ken Trimber, President of KTA-Tator, 3IVE, and an expert in architectural coatings technology.

Lodge will be speaking on air barrier coatings performance as part of a panel discussion on liquid-applied air barriers. He will describe the performance of Sto Corp’s liquid-applied air barrier brands in various scenarios, involving different outdoor and indoor environments, substrates and their conditions. Lodge, who focuses on building envelope solutions, is responsible for product development and testing, complaint investigation and resolution, and related documentation at Sto Corp.  As an installer of air barriers and exterior claddings for many years, he has first-hand knowledge of the tremendous challenges and choices contractors are faced with daily.

Lodge will be joined on the air-barrier panel by technical representatives from five other suppliers, who will also describe their brands’ performance. The panel’s moderator is David de Sola, principal of 3IVE, and an expert in building commissioning.

Other components of the conference include discussions of WUFI software to select and evaluate the performance of building enclosure components with Andre Desjarlais of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and a presentation about how permeance influences the performance of masonry wall coatings.

Participants can earn up to 8 AIA Learning Units for attending.
