Field-Built

Sto offers a wide range of building envelope solutions constructed with traditional field-built methods and includes: EIFS, stucco, cement board stucco, and rainscreen. Learn more about the complete approach and long history of our proven solutions.

Some Sto wall systems are designed for use with specific framing. If you haven’t decided on a framing type at this point, simply select “undecided.”

The look of a building is reflective of the architect’s vision. Sto’s wide range of facade aesthetic surfaces, and the ability to incorporate multiple aesthetics in one project, allows almost absolute design freedom while providing the confidence that the finished product will perform to the highest standards. The only limit is your imagination.

Note: When selecting your desired aesthetic, field-built systems using tile or thin brick have height restrictions of 72ft and 30ft for manufactured stone and thin natural stone. Prefabricated wall panels have a height restriction of 240ft for thin brick or tile and 30ft for manufactured stone and thin natural stone.

Note: While we love and celebrate colors, the use of dark colors (<20 LRV) over EIFS requires the use of mineral wool insulation and is not recommended when using EPS or XPS. Dark colors (<20) tend to show fading more than lighter colors.

EIFS

Lightweight, energy-efficient, continuous insulation with a variety of insulation options and maximum design flexibility.Sto Strike Defense option is available for outstanding resistance to impact from woodpeckers and blunt or sharp objects.

Stucco

Traditional wall systems that include air and water-resistive barrier options for additional moisture protection with Sto DrainScreen® and Sto Crack Defense, an optional fortification layer that minimizes the occurrence of cracks in the surface of the wall system.

Cement Board Stucco

High-impact stucco system that offers additional strength from cement board, while providing easier installation and less moisture exposure compared to traditional stucco. These systems feature air and water-resistive barriers and Sto DrainScreen® technology to promote superior drainage and moisture protection of the wall assembly.

Rainscreen

Complete, warranted, tested and code-approved ventilated rainscreen systems featuring air and water-resistive barrier, mineral wool insulation, adjustable sub-framing, and a wide variety of claddings.

Mega-Panel

Customized and project-specific, code-compliant, tested, proven, lightweight warranted prefabricated finished exterior wall panels manufactured in a quality-controlled factory.

Thermal performance of the building enclosure is extremely important, and selection of insulation plays a vital role. The type of continuous insulation affects the R-value, thickness of the insulation and the wall, and ability to meet ASHRAE 90.1 prescriptive compliance requirements. Insulation Comparison

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) provide a means of measuring the overall lifecycle impact of a product in a single, comprehensive report. Sto offers EPDs for individual products and for systems where each component has an EPD.

A Miami-Date Notice of Acceptance (NOA) is a local product approval required to meet the code criteria in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), as defined by the Florida Building Codes (FBC). All Sto Hurricane Impact (HI) Systems meet this code’s requirement for impact resistance, air and water infiltration, and wind load resistance.

Sto Fortification Layers

Sto fortification layers are engineered to enhance the durability and performance of EIFS and stucco systems while maintaining the aesthetic beauty and integrity. These optional layers can be used in new or renovation projects.

Sto Strike Defense offers outstanding protection from blunt or sharp objects and mitigates damages from woodpeckers in StoTherm EIFS systems.

Sto Crack Defense is designed to protect against surface cracking in StoPowerwall stucco systems by reducing the occurrence of cracks in the stucco basecoat transferring to the finished surface.

Sto Fire Blocking Layers

Sto offers a fireblocking solution to comply with the 2022 New York City Building Code, section BC 718.2.6. It consists of adding Sto Lamellas, a noncombustible mineral wool insulation product, in specific areas of the wall (rough openings and floor lines).
